Our Story
Our journey has been anything but ordinary. Through every step, we've focused on staying true to our Mission. We want to share how we got here and where we are going.
First Prototype
Prototype Number 1For years, I have been going to the Diversey Driving Range in Lincoln Park. It is a mix of life from beginning golfers to seasoned sticks to dogs in their Sunday best waiting for their best friend finish whacking the little white ball towards Lake Michigan. One Spring day, I was taking my dog for a walk and I noticed several golfers walking to the driving range carrying a few clubs in their hand. I thought nothing of it at the time and kept on with my walk. Then a few days later I saw the same thing and thought there had to be a better way.
I kept waiting to see if I saw something better show up at the range besides a full golf bag, a knapsack full of clubs with their shafts sticking out like an octopus, or simply the handful of clubs — nothing materialized. I decided it was time to solve this problem.
In early 2025, I decided to work my contacts in the golf industry. I was able to find a manufacturer and design the prototype pictured above. I was thrilled when it arrived and even got some stares at the range when I brought it the first time — I knew I was onto something. Time to test, iterate and build the next one.
Second Prototype
Prototype Number 2The first prototype was great, but it was not what golfers would expect in terms of durability and sturdiness. I knew that the bones were there, it just needed some refinement. I reviewed the design and compared to other full sizes bags I have used and found functional to incorporate elements that were needed. Once I felt that the designs were correct with manufacturer — we went to second round of prototype production.
By adding structure to the bag, slimming down the frame and adding some higher quality touches it really created an ideal product. When testing on the Sandbox at Sand Valley in Wisconsin, not only did it hold up extremely well with a few clubs in tow — several other golfers commented to me on how much they liked the bag and wanted a smaller bag for themselves.
While a great success, I knew that it still needed work to be released — mostly the fact that the bag would twist from time to time when walking between tee and green. I knew that slight modifications were appropriate to call it a true Town Caddy.
Prototype Number 3When I looked at the coming holidays, I never knew what would wind up under my tree — Prototype Number 3. With a slightly taller base and dual frame construction for stability, Santa had delivered. This iteration is designed to carry tees, golf balls and a glove or two. Improved hardware and a more durable adjustable shoulder strap provide comfort for the long walk or commute. While I know there will be more variations to come, this is truly what I wished for on that Spring day in Lincoln Park seeing an idea come to life.
