Why Lightweight and Durability Matter More Than You Think
When designing Town Caddy, we obsessed over two things: weight and longevity.
For city golfers, a bag isn’t just carried on the course. It’s carried on sidewalks, staircases, trains, parking garages, and apartment hallways.
That changes the design requirements.
The Weight Target
From the start, our goal was simple: keep the bag under 2 pounds without sacrificing structure.
Why?
Easier daily carry
Less fatigue during longer walks
More comfortable commuting
Better balance with a light club setup
Lightweight doesn’t mean flimsy. It means efficient design.
Choosing Materials That Make Sense
We selected durable PU leather for the prototype phase because it offers:
Weather resistance
Easy cleaning
Structural integrity
Consistent quality across batches
As production approaches, we’re testing additional material blends to optimize feel, durability, and long-term performance.
Designing for Real Life
Town Caddy isn’t meant to live in a garage.
It’s meant to be:
Set down on concrete
Leaned against walls
Carried through crowds
Loaded in trunks
Used multiple times per week
That reality drives every design decision.
What This Means for the Final Product
The production version will reflect months of testing, refinement, and real-world feedback. Our goal is simple: create a bag that feels effortless to carry and reliable enough to become your everyday go-to.
